Free WordPress plugin for live chat, booking and lead capture
The Medivot plugin for WordPress puts a live chat widget, appointment booking buttons and lead capture forms on your site in a few clicks, without code. Conversations arrive in your Medivot inbox, bookings in your calendar and form submissions in your CRM. The plugin is free, and you can install it from WordPress.org.
What the Medivot WordPress plugin adds
- Live chat widget: paste your widget key in Settings, then Medivot, tick one box, and the chat bubble shows on every page
- Booking buttons: the Medivot Booking Button block and the [medivot_booking] shortcode link visitors to your booking page or to one event type
- Lead capture forms: the Medivot Form block and the [medivot_form] shortcode embed any Medivot webform, and submissions go straight into your CRM
- Campaign tracking: UTM parameters on the page are passed on to the form, so you can see which campaign brought each lead
- Optional API key: fills in your booking page handle for you and lists your event types in the block editor
A live chat plugin for WordPress that feeds your CRM
Most WordPress chat plugins stop at the conversation. With Medivot, the chat bubble on your site connects to the full Medivot live chat inbox: AI replies grounded in your knowledge base, canned replies, departments, business hours and an offline message form for when nobody is online.
When a visitor gives their name or email, through the pre-chat form or the offline form, Medivot adds them to your CRM as a lead with live chat as the source, unless that email is already in your CRM. The chat script loads asynchronously in the footer, so it does not hold up the rest of the page. Our guide on how to add live chat to WordPress walks through the setup step by step.
Appointment booking buttons for any WordPress page
Booking buttons link to your Medivot booking page, so you set availability, buffers, reminders, approvals and Google or Outlook calendar sync once in Medivot instead of in another WordPress plugin. Link to your booking profile with every public event type, or to one event type such as a 30-minute consultation.
Visitors pick a time on medivot.com, in their own time zone, and the booking creates or updates a contact in your CRM, with confirmation and reminder emails sent for you. Buttons open in a new tab by default, so your site stays open behind them. See how to add appointment booking to WordPress for a full walkthrough.
WordPress forms that send leads straight to your CRM
Build the form once in Medivot under CRM, then Webforms, and embed it on any page with the Medivot Form block or the [medivot_form] shortcode. Each submission creates a record in the CRM module you chose, with web form as the lead source and the page's UTM values saved with the submission. There is no copying entries out of the WordPress dashboard and no separate form-to-CRM connector to maintain.
Medivot can email your team on each new submission and send the person an automatic reply, and a hidden honeypot field filters out simple spam bots. Under every embedded form the plugin adds an "Open the form in a new tab" link, so the form still works if a browser blocks the frame.
How to set up the Medivot WordPress plugin
- Install the plugin. In WordPress, open Plugins, then Add New, search for Medivot, then install and activate it. You can also download it from WordPress.org.
- Turn on live chat. In Medivot, open Live Chat, then Widgets, and copy your widget key from the embed code. In WordPress, open Settings, then Medivot, paste the key, tick "Show the chat widget on every page" and save.
- Add a booking button. Enter your booking page handle (the part after /book/ in your Medivot booking link) in Settings, then Medivot. Then add the Medivot Booking Button block to any page, or use the [medivot_booking] shortcode.
- Embed a form. In Medivot, open CRM, then Webforms, and copy the form's public link. Add the Medivot Form block to a page and paste the link, or use the [medivot_form] shortcode with the form's slug.
- Test it as a visitor. Open your site in a private window, send a chat message, click the booking button and submit the form. The chat appears in your Medivot inbox and the submission in your CRM.
Shortcodes for the classic editor and page builders
The blocks cover the block editor. Everywhere else, including the classic editor, widgets and page builders with a shortcode element, use the shortcodes:
- [medivot_booking] links to your booking profile, and [medivot_booking event="intro-call" text="Book a call"] links to one event type
- Booking options: event (an event type slug or a full booking link), text (default "Book a meeting"), style (button or link), align (left, center or right), new_tab (yes or no) and workspace (a different booking page handle)
- [medivot_form form="contact-us"] embeds a webform by its slug, its ID or its public link
- Form options: height in pixels (default 650), title for screen readers (default "Contact form") and fallback (yes or no, for the "Open the form in a new tab" link)
- Developers can hide the chat widget on chosen pages, such as a checkout page, with the medivot_show_chat_widget filter
Good to know
The plugin is free, and it connects your WordPress site to a Medivot workspace, so you need a Medivot account. Medivot plans are billed in naira and every account starts with a 5-day free trial; see pricing. The chat widget, booking buttons and forms all work without an API key. An API key only adds the handle detection and the event type list in the editor, and your Medivot plan must include API access for it.
Booking buttons are links to your Medivot booking page, so visitors pick a time on medivot.com. Forms load from Medivot inside the page. The plugin stores only its own settings in WordPress: chats, bookings and leads live in Medivot. It needs WordPress 6.3 or later and PHP 7.4 or later, and it works with page caching on any host, in Nigeria or anywhere else.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Medivot WordPress plugin free?
Yes. The plugin is free on WordPress.org. You need a Medivot account, and the features you use (live chat, booking and forms) follow your Medivot plan. Every account starts with a 5-day free trial. Get the plugin.
Is this a live chat plugin, a booking plugin or a CRM plugin?
All three, through one connection. The plugin adds the Medivot chat widget, booking buttons and lead capture forms to WordPress, and the conversations, bookings and leads they collect are stored in your Medivot CRM rather than in the WordPress database.
Can WordPress form submissions go straight into a CRM?
Yes. Forms embedded with the Medivot Form block or the [medivot_form] shortcode are Medivot webforms, so every submission creates a CRM record with web form as its source and the page's UTM values attached. There is nothing to export or sync.
Where do I find my widget key?
In Medivot, open Live Chat, then Widgets, and choose a widget. The widget key is the data-widget-key value in its embed code.
Do I need an API key?
No. The chat widget, booking buttons and forms all work without one. With an API key the plugin fills in your booking page handle and lists your event types in the block editor.
Will the chat widget slow down my WordPress site?
The chat script loads asynchronously in the footer, so the page renders first. Booking buttons are plain links, and forms load only on the pages where you place them. If you use a plugin that delays or combines JavaScript and the widget does not show, exclude medivot.com/chat-widget.js from it.
Can I hide the chat widget on some pages?
Yes. Developers can use the medivot_show_chat_widget filter to hide it on chosen pages, such as a checkout page.
Does it work without the block editor?
Yes. The [medivot_booking] and [medivot_form] shortcodes work in the classic editor, in widgets and in page builders that accept shortcodes, such as the Elementor shortcode widget.
