CRM for Retail & E-Commerce: Customer Segmentation, Purchase Tracking & Loyalty Automation

Retail is not just about selling products — it is about understanding who buys what, when, and why. Build customer segments, track purchase behavior, automate loyalty programs, and turn one-time buyers into repeat customers.

The difference between a shop and a brand is not the product — it is the relationship. Two stores can sell the exact same sneakers, but the one that remembers your size, notifies you when new colors drop, and rewards you for being loyal gets the repeat business. Retail CRM is the engine behind that relationship, turning transaction data into personalized experiences that keep customers coming back.

Customer Data That Drives Sales

Build customer profiles with purchase data by creating a "Purchases" module linked to Contacts: Order Number (auto-number, prefix ORD-), Items (multi-picklist or text), Total Amount (currency), Date, Channel (in-store, website, marketplace), Payment Method, and Category Tags. Custom fields on the Contact record track: Total Lifetime Value (formula from linked Purchases), Purchase Frequency (formula: count of orders divided by customer age in months), Preferred Category (most-purchased product category), Average Order Value (formula), and Last Purchase Date (most recent linked Purchase date).

Smart Segmentation

Saved views become your customer segments. Create views for: VIP Customers (lifetime value above 500,000 naira, more than 10 orders), At-Risk Customers (previously regular buyers who have not purchased in 90 days), New Customers (first purchase in the last 30 days), High AOV Customers (average order value above 50,000 naira), and Bargain Hunters (only purchase during sales). Each segment gets different communication: VIPs get exclusive previews, at-risk customers get win-back offers, new customers get onboarding sequences, and bargain hunters get flash sale alerts.

Automated Customer Journeys

Win-back sequences for churning customers: a "we miss you" email at 60 days, a special offer at 90 days, and a "last chance" message at 120 days before marking as inactive.

Retail Analytics and Forecasting

Reports reveal the stories hidden in your sales data: revenue by product category, sales trends by month (identify seasonality), customer acquisition cost by channel, customer retention rate by cohort, and top products by revenue and margin. Scheduled monthly reports keep store managers and buyers informed.
