What is Deal?
A potential sale tracked in your pipeline, with a value, a stage, an owner and a next step, until it is won or lost.
What is Deal?
A deal (sometimes called an opportunity) is the unit of work in a sales pipeline: one possible sale to one customer. A deal record holds the value, the stage, who is responsible, the related contact or company, and the history of calls, emails and meetings that are moving it forward.
Deals differ from leads in intent: a lead is someone who might buy; a deal is a specific sale you are actively trying to close, usually after qualification. When a deal closes it is marked won, and the value lands in your reporting; when it dies it is marked lost, ideally with a reason so the process can learn.
Why it matters
Deals make sales measurable. Total open pipeline, average deal size, win rate and time-to-close are the four numbers that tell a business whether next month will be good, and all four come from deal records, not from memory. Lost-reason tracking turns failure into information: if half your deals die on price, that is a pricing conversation, not a sales-effort conversation.
How it works in Medivot
Deals in Medivot CRM sit on the pipeline board with custom stages, tasks, reminders and automation rules, linked to the contact's full timeline of emails, bookings, chats and webinar attendance. On plans with revenue attribution, reports follow the trail from first touch to won deal, so you can see which campaigns produce revenue rather than just clicks.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a lead and a deal?
A lead is a person who has shown interest. A deal is a specific potential sale to that person, with a value and a stage in your pipeline. One lead can produce several deals over time.
When should I create a deal?
Create a deal when a conversation turns into a real possibility: they have a need, a rough budget and a timeline. Creating deals too early fills the pipeline with noise; too late and you lose the forecast.
